I would not recommend banking with PNC and especially not at this location! I had the worst banking experience at this location. I had moved out to Whitehall the end of October of 2016 and started banking with this location shortly thereafter. I wanted to maximize my return on my money so I talked to Laura the one customer service representative about which type of account would be best for me. She had suggested the one virtual wallet account, which required you to maintain a certain balance, and then you would earn at least .75% I believe it was. She put me in the account an in a little over a month I noticed that I was not earning the correct amount of interest on my money. I went back and talked to Laura and she looked into it and said that in order to get that I had to make 5 debit card purchases a month in order to get that higher interest rate. She had never told me this at the beginning; all that was discussed was that I needed to maintain the minimum balance. I told her I do not use my debit card and that the particular account she had me in would not work. She put me in another account and said it was fixed and that I would be earning the higher rate of interest this time and that I should not call corporate to get the interest I did not earn the previous month. Another month went by and I checked my account and I was still not earning the correct interest. I went in and spoke to Lana who I believe was one of the managers, and she told me that in order to earn the higher interest rate on any of the accounts I had to make 5 purchases on my debit each month. This didn’t work for me because I use my Chase credit card for everyday purchase due to it paying cash back.

I ended up withdrawing all of the money in my savings and taking it across the street to Santander Bank because they pay a higher interest rate with no required debit card purchases each month. I kept my direct deposit going into the PNC checking for the time being. About 3-4 weeks late I logged onto my online account and saw a 0 dollar balance on my account when I should have had over $1,200 in it. I immediately called into this branch and asked a teller what happened. The teller told me that I had probably wrote out a check or something for that amount. I told him that is most definitely not what had happened. He then told me to hold on and transferred me to Michelle the assistant branch manager. She told me that my account had been closed. I asked her why my account was closed and all she could tell me was the bank has the right to close the account for “failure to maintain a positive relationship”. I had never overdrawn my account or anything in my entire time with PNC. Michelle could not give me the specifics or anything other then “failure to maintain a positive relationship”. I did not receive any notice whatsoever that my account was being closed.

This was by far the worst banking experience I have ever had! What a nightmare! I now bank with Santander Bank right across the street and I highly suggest banking there over this bank. They pay higher interest rates on savings and CD’s. In addition Mary the manager and her staff (Verdi, Mike, etc.) are super professional and take very good care of their customers. They actually care about their customers unlike the employees at this PNC branch! I suggest walking across the street with your money and avoiding all the troubles of dealing with this bank and their unprofessional staff. You will be glad you did down the road.
